Default Chilli Con Carne

2 onions chopped
1 clove of garlic chopped
oil
2 level teaspoons chilli powder
1 fresh red chilli deseeded and finely chopped
1 heaped teaspoon ground cumin
500g mince beef
i tube of sundried tomato paste..normal tomato paste is fine (the smaller tube)
2 tins of tomatoes
1 cinnamon stick
water -half a tomato tin
2 tins of red kidney beans drained... use one if your not keen
salt&pepper

you`ll need quite a big pan for this as it makes loads..it also freezes well ..

fry the onions and garlic in oil until soft
add the chilli powder, fresh chilli, cumin, and mince, and fry till the mince starts to brown..
then add the tomato paste, the tins of tomatos and the cinnamon stick and water..
season
bring to the boil, cover with a tight lid..if the lid aint that tight cover the top of the saucepan with greaseproof paper or foil, and gently press the lid down onto it...
then simmer really slowly for about an hour to an hour and a half...keep an eye on it if your new to cookin..(it should look like its hardly cookin)
30 mins before your due to eat it add the beans..
thats the basics.. if you like it hot add more chilli..if you dont use a mild chilli powder and leave out the red chilli...etc,,its all down to your personal taste..
if you have any probs or questions..give us a shout..my contact details are in my info

You could do a cold pasta salad.
cook some pasta, run cold water over it, drain.
Then put some cooked meat of your choice.
Chicken is nice, add some sweetcorn
chopped onion and a chopped red pepper.
Mix all together, and put in fridge.
You have to cover it with, either cling film or foil

Then take out a little time befor you want to eat it.
But is scrummy, and all the ingrediance you can get quite cheeply!!!!
hope that helps a little!!!!

i do the basic pasta salad with all the normal salad stuff in it,maybe the odd grated carrot...i use Sainsburys dips for the sauce tho. cheese, chive and garlic an onion mixed 50/50...
a friend of mine likes hazelnut or pineapple yogurt mixed with mayo..sounds strange but its quite nice,,lol
for a lighter pasta sauce put a few tablespoons of fresh red pesto in a big bowl..most supermarkets have it.if you cant get it scala is the best bottled one ive tried..
get a few handfuls of sweet cherry tomatos, the plum ones i think are the best and cut them in half
tiny about of garlic chopped really small say 1/4 of a clove
fresh herbs chopped if youve got any.stick in anything ya fancy
1 or 2 tablespoons of olive oil depends on taste
give all that lot a mix up in the bowl, season if it needs it...
then add the freshly drained pasta must be piping hot,,,give it all a good mix cover it for a few mins...then serve it with grated parmesan ...
like with any cookin add what ya like etc be creative
