Hi Anyone/Everyone,
I am contemplating starting a classic/retro car hire business, and just wanted to gauge some public opinion on a few issues. 1. Is this the kind of gift/experience day you might buy for your other half or a relative? 2. If so, what kind of cars do you think they might like to drive for a day? 3. What would you search under if you were looking for this kind of gift, or gift ideas in general? I am aiming the business at the 30/40 somethings, and am based in Leeds,West Yorkshire. Any feedback would be great, good or bad! Thanks for your time. Paul |

i love the idea of hiring a classic car for the day i would definitely use this service for my relatives of course it depends on what kind of cars you are hoping to use. and how much money it would cost. personally i would love to just sit in a series 1 e-type or some such car. i think it can be quite expensive to make sure that things like insurance and the like are covered.

One thing to consider is the cost of maintaining a classic car (or several) which can be extremely expensive even if you can find someone to service them.
But good luck, there is a firm near Bristol who do this and seem to be making a go of it. |

For me, nothing beats driving a vintage car! I always dream of having one
But I also believe that maintaining a classic car is truly expensive! I heard about it in my Stiletto2. I'm glad that my radio does not only covered music. Thanks to sirius by the way. You guys seems to have a good taste of cars too. ![]() Last edited by firefoxxx : 26.11.07 at 18:53. |

just to say i agree with the other guys maintaining a classic car can be prohibitively expensive an example. I own a C reg mark 3 jaguar xj6 i sent it for respray and have so far spent 10 grand on the parts and welding and everything else that has needed to be done before the respray has even started AND it has taken a good 7/8 months and she is still not ready

Sounds good to me not sure just how many companys already do this service but yeah of course there would be a demand for it particulay for occasions like weddings stuff where a nice classic car would be addition to wedding plans.

we've just set up a car hire business in the Highlands renting out classic Landrover Dormobiles. It isn't that bad maintaining them - but self-drive hire insurance is really hard to find and very expensive. But good luck with it - check us out at www.4x4dable.co.uk

There are indeed a number of companies hiring out classic cars across the country. I run one of the longest established ones in England - The Open Road - see www.theopenroad.co.uk
I have also setup a web portal listing all such companies that i know of around the world - Classic Car Hire World - see www.classiccarhireworld.com Either pick a country and a location and see what is available near you, or go to Marques and then click on the Make of car required and it will show you what is available and where. I hope this is useful to you all. |
