Default Should women be allowed to breast feed in public?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6742955.stm

I personally think it is a perfectly natural act and should therefore be allowed in public. Perhaps it might be an idea to have breast feeding areas in restaurants though?

What do you think?

It may be perfectly natural but then so are many other functions that are better performed out of publice view...
Separate areas are a good idea.

I think it should be the woman's choice - but I think they should expect some reactions if they do decide to.. eg people staring ..

Personally I wouldn't unless I was in a specific brest feeding area (with no men) ..

Erm. . .perhaps not in full view of everyone else in a restaurant. . .tbh, i would feel rather sick if i saw that happening whilst i was trying to eat. . .

And lets not forget that theres boud to be a lot of children out and about in public. Suddenly half of the parents in the UK would have to attempt to explain the answer to their childs question - 'Whys that lady doing that?'. . .which can only lead to further and even more irritatingly unanswerable questions =/

Though if like you suggested they introduced particular areas in public places in which women could breast feed, it would be quite a good idea XD

I agree,it is a normal part of life...one we really need to get used to...
20 years ago page 3 was a bikini now look at it.how long will it be before totally naked???
Or do we live and remain in a society that thinks women's breasts should only be shown
doing there national function in the pages of the national geographic ??

I think breastfeeding is perfectly natural too. However, I feel their is so many preying eyes, and people cast a judgement on mothers who do breatfeed in public. Right enough, my sister was in Boots once, and had to breast feed my new born neice. There was a couple in, the father sitting down reading a paper and the mother changing the baby. After asking the father to leave, he just point blank refused. There is a designated room in public places for mothers too feel comfortable. I think men should respect these areas more.

I'm torn on this one - on the one hand it is perfectly natural and I'm not that in to having tons of rules on what people can and cannot do. On the other hand, I've seen some mothers with no discretion whatsoever.

I think that separate areas in pubs and restaurants would be a better idea than no breast feeding in public - it's something that needs to be done, but it's not something that EVERYONE is comfortable seeing, and if there were designated areas it would be a good compromise IMO.
