Toyota Yaris Roof Bars

Who finds this a complete joke...
My g/f dad gave my g/f his old Toyota Yaris as it was a newer model to hers,he bought a new one...
thats when problems started...my G/f has Toyota Yaris roof bars,you would have thought it would be simple to fix them onto my g/f new car as the only thing different from her old car was the engine size...
think again..to fix the bars to the car safety you need these special adhesive strips,unfortunately you can only get these strips it seems if you buy the roof bars..you cannot get them as a spare part..
I must credit Toyota customer services for tyring there best and being very prompt and understanding,,,but unfortunately i`am still left with this problem...
I did request a letter from Toyota which they have agreed to send me stating ,,the roof bars do require these rubber strips as part of the integrity of the bars but unfortunately they don't sell the rubber strips or are able to get hold of any...i don't find this acceptable as i feel and it seems Toyota agrees these rubber strips are a vital component for keeping the roof bars attached to the car...
its like Toyota saying here`s the keys to your new Toyota ,oh BTW when the tyres wear out you need to by a new car as we don't do replacement tyres...
I would be interested to know if anybody else has had a smilier sort of problem..
I will be writing letter to watchdog and the SMNT etc about this matter and i`ll post the replies i get on here for all those who are interested

Just a quick update..Toyota it seems are unwilling to send me a letter saying they cant provide the parts i`am after,even tho they do admit on the phone the roof bars do require them,,,
If anybody is going to buy roof bars please ask if you can get the spare parts for them
because they might not be safe if you don't use the correct fixings,and i don't want anybody
else to waste £100,that goes to all makes and models
