ideas to make the forum more popular with the iQ population

and i've had a thought:
if there was a locked forum where you had to be 18+ to be a member, this would allow the users who need to blow off steam to do so. it doesn't have to be a whole forum, just one section (the pub, for example - kids shouldn't be in the pub anyway). i just thought it might make it a little more appealing.

does anyone have any other suggestions?

It is possible to make such a forum ...

I used to moderate an adult forum,one problem we had was kids logging on as adults and of cause the prats who just come on to shout abuse...

when you say 18 and over allot of people will think your talking about s ex ,,,LoL

Maybe keep the forum open and put a content warning also have it well moderated so things don't go to out of control...Members can just chat of cause...LoL

I think its a good idea,bring people into the forum etc...

Its up to the Lycos admins to decide as i think it would bend the rules some what of the forum...

I think one thing that would make this forum more easier to get along with would be to have notifications when someone has added something to your thread allowing you easy access to find your comments and reply asap.
A bit like what we have on the main IQ site.
You cant even add pictures bigger than a postage stamp so that ruins the caption competition questions too.
I think if this forum was more like the main IQ site which is almost like a question forum anyway it would be more popular.

If you subscribe to a thread on the forum you will receive a email when something has been added to that thread

Some spammers on the forum use huge pics,so it is possible to put bigger images on the forum.

If the forum was linked to more popular TV shows etc ,like wags boutique in its heyday there would be loads more people in here..Come on Lycos pull ya finger out iam fallin asleep here ..LoL

No members like this set up thats why hardly anyone uses this lycis Iq forum they prefer to use the main site and to be honest i dont blame them.

I feel the IQ forum is for public friendly chat where IQ members can talk about IQ matters,so its only an ad on to the main IQ site, so rightly the forum takes a back seat
