Has anybody else found Tescos or any other brand of better reared chicken to be tough(Willow Farm)?
This week i bought one from Tescos as it was convenient ,as i was some way from my local farm shop.. Iam sorry to say the chicken was horrid, very tough,a 1st for me for chicken, this made me wonder if it was a marketing ploy to make the more ethical reared chicken to be a more inferior quality to the cheaper brands.. Hugh fearnley whittingstall was going on about 2 chickens for a fiver,if i remember rightly this Tescos store was buy a chicken get one free,is this a ploy to get rid of the excesses of cheaper chickens nobody wants by making the more ethically reared ones a inferior quality i ask??? I can assure anybody who reads this, from a farmers market,or a farm that produces its own meat, even other supermarkets ive never had anything like it..EVER!!! Iam not going to go on about local farm shops and farmers markets,as those who read my blog on here know my feelings, but Last week in Bakewell in Derbyshire the farmers market there was selling free range eggs 60p a dozen cheaper than Tescos, sausage that is all meat 50P cheaper and real bacon that was 25p cheaper than Tescos finest,a little food for thought, plus the ostrich burger i had there was very very tasty,as well as low fat.. If anybody fancies a look the farmers market is held on the last Saturday of every month.. And if ya dont like whats on offer you can buy some very VERY tasty cakes on the high street ![]()
