Post Smallville

Lionel arrives at LuthorCorp and goes to his office to find Lex waiting for him. Lex confronts him over the Traveler and the death of the Queens and the Teagues. Lex says that it was no accident he was in Smallville the day of the meteor shower and Lionel was there to greet the Traveler and Lex was the sacrifice. Lex demands to know who the Traveler is and Lionel wonders what Lex would say if Lionel told him he was the Traveler. Lionel insists that he trained him and Lex has survived mortal injuries many times. Lex warns that when he gets the box in Zurich, he'll have the answer to all his questions. He then draws a gun and demands the second key, and rips it from around Lionel's neck. Lionel warns that there will be no redemption for Lex if he gets hold of the box. In response, Lex says that no one will remember Lionel, and shoves him out the window to his death.

Chloe is trying to track Brainiac through worldwide radar and power systems and can find no trace of him or Kara. They hear sirens and Lois says that Lionel's body has been found in front of LuthorCorp. Clark and Chloe go to investigate as Lex tells Captain Maggie Sawyer that he heard Lionel yell and found that he had jumped. Lex identifies the body but as he walks away, he sees himself as a child standing behind him, accusing him of killing Lionel. Lex turns to find Clark watching him and walks away, while Chloe notes all that Lionel has done against Clark. Clark doesn't believe Lionel would ever have committed suicide and wonders about the locket Lionel mentioned he had for Clark.

At the manor, Lex's assistant Gina comes in to express her condolences. Lex talks about how Lionel took him to the Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. as a child, and how Lex loved things that could fly. Lionel told him about how "The right man could make anything possible." Gina notices that Lex has Lionel's locket and assures him that no one will ever know. She notices the locket is empty and Lex admits that Lionel must have given it to someone. He blames Gina for failing to keep an eye on Lionel and she reports that Lionel was spotted in the Daily Planet. He orders her to get the helicopter ready and after she leaves, the image of himself as a boy appears once more and condemns him for killing Lionel.

Clark sneaks into Lionel's office and opens the vault. Inside he sees a copy of Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil and a container behind it with Kryptonian symbols saying it's for Kal-El. Opening it, Clark finds a message saying that Lionel dedicated himself to protecting Clark but he can do so no longer. There are two locks with a key, and the keys used together unlock the secret of controlling Clark. Lionel's message says that Clark must save himself and find the keys.

At the Planet, Jimmy has been going through Lex's memos while Lois complains he's not doing anything. Jimmy shows her a photo showing Lionel plunging out the window. Blowing it up, they can see another person in the room. Jimmy needs a more powerful computer and Lois suggests they use the Isis Foundation computers, and decide to get Chloe to help.

Chloe arrives at her desk and finds the key hidden in her drawer. Lex comes in and she quickly hides it as he notes that Lionel visited her earlier. Chloe admits he was disturbed and Lex asks if his father gave her anything. She denies it but he easily finds it in her drawer and wants to know what Lionel told her. Lex fires her and has her escorted out without her personal items. Gina tells Lex to go back to the manor and get some sleep, trying to insinuate herself into his good graces. Once he leaves, she goes into Chloe's computer, but picks up her cell phone as Jimmy sends her a message saying he has a photo of Lionel's death.

Lois is getting impatient but Gina comes in with a gun and takes them into the service area, where she demands the photo so she can destroy it. Lois tries to go for the gun but Gina shoots her in the shoulder. Gina forces them to reveal that they uploaded it to the Isis server and then locks them in the freezer while she goes to get it.

Clark meets Chloe at Isis and they compare notes, and realize they need the key that Lex recovered. Chloe says it'll take a couple of hours to develop the photos, while Clark super speeds to Lex's study at the manor and finds a case with the locket in it. Lex comes in and confronts Clark and tells him to get out. Young Lex appears to Lex once more and suggests that he tell Clark what happened. Lex comments on how their fathers were both a lot alike and Clark insists he wants to know how Lionel died. Clark accuses Lex of not trying to get his father's respect, but Lex accuses him of turning his back on him. Lex insists he had to take control to protect the world and blames Clark for putting stress on Jonathan's heart that may have lead to his death. Clark says that he has proof that Lex killed Lionel and leaves.

Chloe is working on the photo and manages to determine that Lex is the killer. Gina comes up behind her and knocks her out, then loads a virus into the computer. Clark arrives and finds Chloe, who confirms that Lex is the murderer. They conclude whoever attacked Chloe may have harmed Jimmy and Lois. Chloe warns Clark about the key, unaware that Gina is hiding and overhears their entire discussion.

Clark returns to the Planet and uses his superhearing to find Jimmy and Lois, who are near-freezing and unconscious. He uses his heat vision to thaw them and super speeds away before they can see him.

Gina returns to her call and leaves Lex a message saying she knows who the Traveler is, but one of Lex's men poisons her and leaves her in her car.

As Lex prepares to leave for Zurich, young Lex warns that Lex can't escape him and there's still good inside of him. Lex admits that the box is all he has left, but young Lex says Lex still has him. Lex denies it and refuses to listen any further, and drags his hallucination into the fireplace, "killing" him.

The next morning, Clark is at the barn contemplating a photograph of Jonathan when Chloe checks in and notes that Lex has closed Lionel's funeral to anyone but Lex. Clark wonders if it's been worth the cost for three father figures to have died for him, but Chloe tells him not to let it all be in vain. Clark resolves to get the keys back.

At the funeral, Lex is the only one at Lionel's grave when Clark appears to pay his respects. Lex just walks away.

So what do you think of this episode of the new series of smallville do you think they should killed off one of the main characters off. What will happen to clark now with lionel gone and do you think lex is getting closer to clarks secret.
