I am 24 years old and I have just started my first job. My company has a pension scheme, should I join the scheme? Am I too young to worry about getting a pension at 24?

I disagree.
enjoy life to the full, especially when you're young. How much money are you going to save anyway? Why deny yourself that extra shot of tequila? |

Got to agree with Alameen, start saving now or there will be no tequila at all when you are 65!!!!

I agree too with Alameen. You're never too young to start saving with a pension scheme. Especially if your workplace has one in place where they will contribute towards. I say the sooner the better for peace of mind.

You can never be too young to start contributing into a pension scheme. There are many tax advantages as well as free contributions from your employer (I assume your employer will also contribute into the scheme?). The way this country is going, it would be foolish to expect that the Goverment will be able to provide for us when we retire.
I suggest you talk to an independent financial advisor. Best wishes and good luck. |

As everyone else has already said, you are never too young to start a pension scheme. I have just made a brief post about pension schemes on my site. It basically says that by not having one you are saying no to free money.
